A stick of Mint and Eucalyptus flavoured Halls...

Mint/Eucalytus Halls

Winter is still here and with winter comes colds and flu, especially if you have school aged children who are exposed to every cold germ to come through town courtesy of the school population.  While living naturally does not necessarily mean eliminating the use of all over the counter and prescription medication, it does mean trying to resolve a situation naturally before hauling out the “big guns” of these medications on the first go round.  However recent studies have indicated that these over the counter cold remedies don’t work for children and can often be dangerous.  So, as a mom, it’s very important to me to have natural cold remedies at hand.

Homemade Remedies for Heartburn

I don’t know about you, but as I get older, I find that more foods tend to upset my stomach and/or give me heartburn.   What is heartburn?  It’s when the acid from your stomach, which is there to digest your food, makes its way up into the esophagus and sometimes the throat.  Usually heartburn is characterized by a “churning stomach”, nausea, gas, a burning feeling in the chest and a sour taste in the mouth.  Certainly, you may not experience all these symptoms, but I’m sure you know when you have heartburn!
